Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil is one of a few new cleansing oils you’ll see launching this Fall at drugstores and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited. Although we have a few drugstore cleansing oils like Garnier Clean Nourishing Cleansing Oil, there’s still a rather big gap in both the budget and high end skincare world where cleansing cleansing oil are concerned.
Let’s take a look at Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil! A quick glance at the ingredients revealed this is in fact not a mineral oil based formula which for some will be quite a relief. This particular formula was formulated with normal and dry skin in mind however, if you have oily skin I think it should work fine for you as well. People are sometimes reluctant to use cleansing oils because they fear it’ll make their skin shiny or greasy but that’s an unfounded fear because cleansing oils break up and rinse clean away without leaving residue or greasiness behind. Burt Bee’s does a very good job with this formula. It’s a nice hydrating oil cleansing that has a strong earthy, herbal fragrance. I find the texture thick yet runny.
To use it, simply massage on your dry face full of makeup! Apply a little water to break it up and emulsify the oil now you can rinse. This rinses makeup away very well! I didn’t really try it on waterproof mascara and eye makeup as I tend to remove my eye makeup with an eye makeup remover prior to washing my face but all my other makeup including blush, bb cream, etc removed easily with this oil! I used a little micellar water after to determine how well this cleanses and my cotton pad came away clean!
My face didn’t feel dry or tight after use either which is a plus as lately many cleansing oils formulas aren’t quite working for me and I end up feeling quite dry after use. This is obviously not stripping moisture from my face as I feel very soft and lightly hydrated after! All in all in Burt Bee’s first attempt at creating an affordable cleansing oil is a win! This formula is excellent and does a great job removing makeup without drying out skin plus the lack of mineral oil will please a good deal of users!
You can grab Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil now at Ulta. Read my full disclosure statement here. Why they gotta put fragrance in it? There’s more fragrance in this than coconut oil according to the order on the ingredients list!
I’d love to be able to use more Burt’s Bees stuff but so much of their product line contains fragrance pretty high up in their formulas and that can be so irritating to skin. If it wasn’t for that, I’d be all over this! Guess I gotta get the Neutrogena one. There is little to no detectable fragrance and I feel like a fancy French lady when I use it. DHC cleansing oil plus the Clinique balm! I am trying to NOT be a hoarder. I haven’t found the Neutrogena one yet, but I want to give that a try.
I’d give this a go, but coconut oil breaks me out like crazy. I think coconut oil smells great enough already. I know there’s a lot of hate for mineral oil, but at least it doesn’t clog pores! I don’t have issues with mineral oil either! As someone who has suffered from severe acne most of my life, I found coconut oil to actually fix my acne. Since I started oil cleansing a year ago, my skin has never looked better.
